Many
of our 22 INSTALLATION CREW LEADERS have been planting
gardens and building patios, paths and water features with Bachman's
for over 20 years and are certified by the Minnesota
Nursery and Landscape Association.
With a combined degree of Horticulture and Design from the
University of Minnesota, Steve Gorman is a well versed designer,
finding unique solutions to a client’s desires. His
career spans nearly 30 years, and is supported by seven prestigious
Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association design awards.
Steve views each landscape installation project as an opportunity
to individually apply his many years of experience. He enjoys
finding creative and harmonious solutions for client’s
landscaping projects.
Haugo,

Throughout his 30 years in landscape design and construction,
Tom Haugo has won nine prestigious Minnesota Nursery and Landscape
Association awards and two National Landscape Association
awards for Excellence in Landscape Design. His portfolio includes
a wide variety of residential and commercial projects. Time
after time, Tom is able to approach each project with an eye
for detail. He uses practical problem solving skills to transform
landscape into great outdoor living spaces.
Herbst,

Bruce Herbst brings a background in architecture to his position
at Bachman’s. He received a Bachelor of Architecture
Degree from the University of Illinois, and worked as an architect
in Minneapolis prior to entering the nursery/landscape industry
in 1976. He has been with Bachman’s since 1985. Given
his background in architecture, Bruce has a solid understanding
of how plant material can work with other design elements.
In 1992, he received a MNLA Certificate of Merit in Residential
Landscape Design.
Hoffman,

Leatha Hoffman creates landscapes with a dynamic interplay
between solid shapes and structures balanced with creative
plant combinations and colors. She has seven years experience
with landscape design and has been selected to install one
of the Secret Gardens at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
this summer. Leatha earned a Bachelor of Science degree from
the University of Mary in North Dakota and has studied at
the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis College of Art
and Design.
Johannson,

Ami Johannson is a MNLA Certified Landscape Professional with a landscape design degree from Dakota County Technical College. She previously worked in international marketing, but her love of design led her to her work with Bachman’s in 2003. Ami is an avid gardener. She enjoys the challenge of designing “perfect fit” outdoor living spaces for her clients.

Mark Madsen is a St. Olaf College graduate with 32 years of
experience in landscape design; 23 of which have been with
Bachman's. During his professional career he has won four
awards from MNLA for Excellence in Landscape Design.
Mark also enjoys landscape photography, having been published
regionally. He is especially able to visualize a design, much
the way he would a photograph, creating beautiful landscape
designs and installations.

Ryan P. McAlpine has bachelor degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design from North Dakota State University. He worked hands-on for several years installing numerous landscape projects and leading a Bachman’s installation crew. Ryan’s training and passion for design, coupled with his great understanding of “how to” make Ryan a very effective designer and project manager.
Melquist,

Daryl Melquist graduated from the University of Minnesota
with a degree in Landscape Horticulture. He came to Bachman’s
in 1977 and since then has led the sales staff for all but
his first year. Daryl’s success can be attributed to
his attention to detail and proven ability to create stunning
landscapes. Combining creativity with function in landscape
construction and planting design has been one of Daryl’s
strengths in his 31 years of experience.

With a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University
of Minnesota and 21 years of experience, Mike Porwoll knows
the industry well. Throughout his career he has successfully
designed both residential and commercial properties. Mike
has developed a strong intuitive sense of design, which allows
him to quickly and efficiently respond to any landscape challenge.
Using his comprehensive knowledge of plants and landscape
construction, he is able to create personalized designs with
aesthetic flair.
Schneider,

Tim Schneider grew up in the landscape business, working for
his father installing all kinds of hardscape and planting
projects and eventually designing those projects as well.
Tim earned his AAS degree in Landscape Design and Construction
from Hennepin Technical College and his years of “hands
on” give him a thorough understanding of retaining walls,
paver walks and patios and all types of plantings.
Stern,

Korey Stern brings 14 years of design and project management
experience to Bachman’s. He received Bachelor degrees
in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design from North
Dakota State University. Korey is knowledgeable in all aspects
of landscape installation and design, planning with the client’s
needs and goals as a key component in the overall design.
Steve Wilde has been with Bachman’s for 25 years as
a Landscape Designer. He received degrees in Landscape Design
and in Urban / Regional Planning from South Dakota State University
in 1978. Steve specializes in residential landscape design
and has received five design awards from MNLA. He enjoys helping
clients combine plants material and hardscape construction
to make their outdoor space practical, comfortable and appealing.
Woldorsky,

Richard Woldorsky brings a combination of experiences to Bachman’s
Landscape. He received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture
Degree and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Studies from the
University of Minnesota. Richard has worked as an Urban Planner
and Landscape Architect. He has been with Bachman’s
for over 16 years working as a commercial and residential
Landscape Designer. Richard’s urban planning background
allows him to uniquely contribute to commercial design.
